Nuestra misi\u00f3n para honrar el legado de Alex es recaudar fondos para la investigaci\u00f3n del c\u00e1ncer de p\u00e1ncreas. Hemos establecido con la Universidad de Sydney la Beca de Doctorado Alex L\u00f3pez en C\u00e1ncer de P\u00e1ncreas. La beca, bautizada en memoria de Alex, desempe\u00f1a un papel fundamental en la atracci\u00f3n de estudiantes de doctorado de talento de todo el mundo para mejorar las tasas de supervivencia de los enfermos de c\u00e1ncer de p\u00e1ncreas. En los \u00faltimos 15 a\u00f1os, los m\u00e9dicos de la Universidad de S\u00eddney que trabajan en el hospital universitario Royal North Shore se han convertido en l\u00edderes en el tratamiento del c\u00e1ncer de p\u00e1ncreas. Los pacientes tratados por su equipo sobreviven casi el doble tras el diagn\u00f3stico en comparaci\u00f3n con la media de pacientes australianos con c\u00e1ncer de p\u00e1ncreas tratados en otros centros.
